Metaphysical Properties of Stones

Stones are considered the "bones" of the Earth. Her skeletal structure, so to speak. Then there are the "stones" that begin as the fiery liquid of her heart, the minerals and gems created within her body over eons and spewed forth during growing pains. Such treasures were collected and valued from Neolithic times, crafted into amulets and other items.

There are ancient tektites such as Moldavite that resulted from a meteor impact 15 million years ago that caused the Nordlinger Ries Impact Crater in Bavaria. Other tektites such as Australites, which fell approximately 1 million years ago across Australia, Ivorites, which fell on the Ivory Coast approximately .78 million years ago, and North American tektites that fell approximately 34 million years ago. These incredibly powerful creations of molten glass come in colors ranging from olive to emerald green and browns and black.

There are stones that carry the energies of the ancient past, such as Jet and Amber. Both are highly protective and forming from plants, with Jet being formed under pressure from decaying plant matter and Amber being fossilized tree sap.

While most commonly associated with the UK, Jet is found also in France, Spain, Poland, and the USA. I have personally found Jet on the North Oregon Coast. It, like Amber is incredibly lightweight and can be mistaken for plastic. This led to mass marketing of fake Jet. Amber can be found worldwide and can be it's golden namesake color or many variations from yellow, opaque, creamy "popcorn", cherry red, deep brown, to green and an almost opalescent blue. Each carry their own energies in addition to the whole.

Copal is a "young" Amber. Amber must be more than a million years old and is usually over 200 million years old, such as Baltic Amber. Copal is usually only a few hundred thousand years old, but often marketed as true Amber. The primary source for this type of Amber is South America.
